What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback or neurotherapy, is a safe, painless and noninvasive method for training the brain to improve its own self-regulation. When information is fed back to the brain visually and audibly through the system, the brain can optimize its own activation level, focus, attention and mood.

Research has demonstrated that various EEG (brainwave) frequencies are related to specific qualities of arousal, attention, mood and consciousness. Particular patterns of these frequencies determine the difference between peak performance and malfunction, or sometimes between joy and despair.

Neurofeedback is like taking your brain to the gym. It’s a learning strategy that enables people to alter their brain waves and exercise the brain's own regulatory mechanisms. It is used with great success to treat conditions and disabilities which cause the brain to function well below its optimal capacity. Instead of merely treating symptoms, neurofeedback addresses the root issues related to patterns of dysregulation in the nervous system. These patterns of dysregulation can lead to symptoms including problems with focus and attention, learning challenges, mood fluctuations, behavioral disturbances, sleep issues, hormone imbalances, pain, migraines, emotional disturbances, substance abuse, seizures and secondary stroke symptoms. It is also useful for optimizing the brain for peak performance in business, sports and performing arts as it improves the overall performance and functioning of an individual.

Neurofeedback is used as an aid to significantly improve brain function, which has a direct impact on performance; but more importantly, it is a highly effective treatment for various symptoms arising from trauma, brain dysregulation and injury. These include attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder, behavioral conduct  problems, learning disabilities, sleep problems, teeth grinding, tinnitus, chronic pain and migraines. It is also helpful with mood disorders, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, weight control, seizures, and secondary stroke symptoms.

Noteworthy Praise For Neurofeedback

From World Class Experts

DeepWellness - Neurofeedback Vernon, Kelowna, Armstrong, Salmon Arm - PTSD ADHD Treatment - Bessel van der Kolk - 001

“In my practice I use neurofeedback primarily to help with the hyperarousal, confusion, and concentration problems of people who suffer from developmental trauma. However, it has also shown good results for numerous issues and conditions that go beyond the scope of this book, including relieving tension headaches, improving cognitive functioning following a traumatic brain injury, reducing anxiety and panic attacks, learning to deepen meditation states, treating autism, improving seizure control, self-regulation in mood disorders, and more.”

“The literature, which lacks any negative study, suggests that neurofeedback plays a major therapeutic role in many different areas. In my opinion, if any medication had demonstrated such a wide spectrum of efficacy it would be universally accepted and widely used.”

Director of the Clinical Neurophysiology & Developmental Neurophysiology Laboratories of Boston Children’s Hospital

“When I come for a session with Anna at DeepWellness, I know I am going to walk out of there feeling substantially better in terms of calmness and focus and the results are lasting. I love how I can come in and watch something on Netflix or YouTube and just relax and let the system do the work in improving my brains inherent capacity to regulate itself better.  Anna is incredibly knowledgeable and empathetic.  If you struggle with depression, anxiety or a plethora of other brain-related issues, I cannot recommend her and neurofeedback strong enough.”
